Dear OHS Families,
I hope you all had a terrific weekend!
We transitioned back to school nicely after April break. Students and teachers came back refreshed and got right back into teaching and learning. Our grade 3-5 students started their state tests this week, and the testing went smoothly. We ended the week with Spirit Day and the first spring Run Club, which was blessed with beautiful weather. We also had a wonderful visit from the FWMS chorus and orchestra on Friday. The group included a large contingent of OHS alumni, and they were amazingly talented! The OHS teachers and staff were thrilled to see them all and how much they have grown!
Below are some important notices for this week, as we continue a busy spring season at OHS:
- Students in grades 3-5 will continue the Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBA). Please make sure students get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast each day so they are set up for success.
- Please remember to adhere to the reminders I sent home about smart watches and cell phones: Fairfield elementary school policy is that students cannot have smart watches or cell phones out in school. They are allowed to be brought to school if you permit it, but they must be turned off and stored in their backpack until student dismissal.
- We also have the Spring Book Fair operating in our hallway this week. Thank you to the parent volunteers running the book fair! Getting more books into our students’ hands is always a great thing! We also have lots of ASA’s this week, so please make sure your SDM is up-to-date, and hopefully we get great weather again this Friday for Run club. Finally, we have a PTA meeting on Thursday night at 7:00 PM - we hope to get a good turnout to take part in the wonderful work done by the OHS PTA.
Have a terrific week ahead! Take care.
