SUBJECT: OHS Special Flash | Bike Bus and WALK-A-THON Friday!

**Special Flash**

May 15, 2025

We are counting down to two big OHS events Friday morning!

The Bike Bus pedals to school starting at 8:15am (route here)

and the WALK-A-THON fundraiser steps up at 10am!

Find all the info you'll need for both events below!

Ride to school with the Bike Bus Friday morning

The Bike Bus will start the route to OHS at 8:15 Friday morning at the corner of Old Spring Road and Edge Hill Road. Riders can join the fun at any point along the route, but we also have designated bus 'stops' where groups can gather to wait for the bus.

Important reminders:

  • Please note the Bike Bus is a one-way trip - there is no Bike Bus for afternoon dismissal.
    • If your child will be riding their bike home, please remember to change their dismissal plan in Student Dismissal Manager.
    • If your child will not be taking their bike, please plan to pick it up between 3:30-8pm.
  • All student riders must be accompanied by a designated adult rider.
  • Bikes will be stored at the bike rack on the blacktop near the playground.
  • Please label your bike to avoid mix-ups!
  • If you are traveling with instruments or heavy bags, there will be a 'chase car' following behind the bikers that can transport your items to school. Please make sure items are labeled. Space is limited; we are not responsible for lost items.
  • If you'll be riding with the Bike Bus, please read through the safety guidelines linked here.

WALK-A-THON Fundraiser steps up Friday morning

Lace up your sneakers, all students participate in the WALK-A-THON Friday morning! Here's everything you need to know:

Starting at 10am, students and faculty walk together on about a mile-long route that takes them through the neighborhood north of the school and ends on the OHS field as parents and neighbors cheer them on. Along with being a fun and active event for the OHS community, it's also one of our largest fundraisers for the PTA.

Help us meet our fundraising goal!

The WALK-A-THON funds programs like author visits, field trips, STEM & SEL presentations, Field Day and this year, a Gaga Pit! Thanks to your contributions we are 64% of the way towards our goal, so we still need your help. Donations can be brought to the office via check or made online - find more info on fundraising here.

Cheer on the walkers!

The WALK-A-THON kicks off at 10am. The students will exit through the main entrance and begin their walk towards Pansy Road. We are still looking for a few more volunteers to help with our grade level water stations and to cheer on our walkers throughout the route. Think bubbles, music, bells, signs.. anything to make the walk more memorable and fun for the kids!

Wear your class colors!

Each class is assigned a class color which can be worn for both the WALK-A-THON and Field Day. Grab something from your closet or get creative! Reminder - in an effort to reduce fundraising asks from our community we have reduced the individual fundraising goals and are not providing t-shirts this year.

Hand in your training program by Friday

Did you complete the WALK-A-THON training program? Bring your completed training form to the office by Friday to be entered into the raffle for an ice cream gift card!
