Dear OHS Families,

I hope you all had a chance to enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend!

We had so much fun on Friday afternoon at our OHS Dance Party! Thank you to our OHS School Climate Team for planning the event, and thanks again to DJ Peter G for donating his time and equipment to make our party awesome! It was very generous of him, and he was terrific with the kids! Congratulations to the children again for reaching the first milestone of 100 Classroom Otters!

We have a few events happening at OHS this week:

  • On Tuesday, our 4th graders will have a health lesson from Denise Lewis, the FPS Health Educator. The lesson will focus on the immune system and the difference between viruses and bacteria, and how to prevent getting sick

  • On Wednesday, Grade 2 will be taking a trip to the Fairfield Museum

  • Also on Wednesday, the fire department will be bringing the Fire Safety Trailer to OHS for our Grade 3 students.

  • Thursday evening is our PTA meeting at 7:00 PM in the APR, at which the district food services manager will be giving a short presentation

  • Friday is PINK DAY AT OHS! Have your children wear pink in support of the fight against breast cancer, and donate $1.00 to support the cause. The “pinkest” class will get their picture taken with the Pink Car outside on Friday

Also, we will be having our first Lockdown Drill this week. If you mention it to your children, please just let them know that we do practice drills to keep everyone safe, and their job is to stop what they are doing and listen to their teacher.

Facility Update: Our vestibule is fully constructed after Thursday’s work, and the security company is finalizing the buzzer system and door operators for the interior doors. Reminder to OHS families: Please download the Raptor Safe App on your phone and follow the directions to sign up to make the entry process easier. You will be able to use a secure QR code instead of scanning your license every time.  Please click here for more information.

Finally, please see this link for information on Flu Shot Clinics in Fairfield.

I hope everyone has a terrific week ahead! Take care.

Sean F. Smyth, Principal
