Dear OHS Families,

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!

Fifth Grade Chorus Performs at Swearing In

This evening (11/27), at 7:00 pm, our fifth grade chorus, led by Mrs. Haskitt, will be performing a piece at the Swearing In of Fairfield’s new First Selectman, Bill Gerber.  Mr. Gerber’s children are OHS alumni and we are honored to be invited to perform.  The Swearing In will include music from high school groups and OHS.  It will take place at the Warde High School Auditorium.

Turkey Trot Thank You

Last Tuesday, we had a fantastic morning for a Trot around the building in celebration of Thanksgiving and the success of our food drive.  We collected over 5000 items in November to donate to Operation Hope.  We had volunteers picking up all the food for delivery with help from some of our fifth graders.   The turkey Trot itself was a great time.  Big thanks to Courtney Cataldo and Kate Fierman for organizing the event, including volunteers, decorations, and route markings.  Mr. Marko started off the trots well and kept us on schedule.  We had a beautiful balloon archway for a finish line, created by Katya Iodice.  It was wonderful having so many family members out to support and cheer on the runners!  A wonderful way to transition into the Thanksgiving weekend!

Holiday Consideration Reminder

I sent this out last week but am including a reminder of the request that we do our best to hold back on too much focus at school on holidays so we can continue to focus on teaching and learning. We will be asking Santa hats and light-up necklaces to stay in backpacks while class is in session. We want this to be a fun season but there is much to teach and learn!  Thanks for your help with this.

Lockdown #2 Reminder

We will be having our second lockdown drill of the year sometime early in the week of 11/27.  I will send out communication after it is complete to update you.

Have a great start to December later this week,

David

New! Name Labels for Sale

It's that time of year again when your kids are wearing hats, scarves and mittens to school and potentially returning home with one or none. Did you know - if your child's name is on them, our wonderful school secretary, Terry Budlowski, will make every effort to return it to them? OHS PTA is doing a fundraiser with Name Bubbles, which has dishwasher and laundry safe labels that will help facilitate your child's lost belongings to be returned back to them. Help minimize our lost and found table! Makes a great holiday gift. Shop at our unique fundraising link here to get a discount and have a small portion of your purchase go to OHS PTA.

OHS Night at the Islanders

Get ready for some hockey with your friends from Osborn Hill and the Bridgeport Islanders!

Come cheer on the Islanders on Saturday, January 20th at 7pm as they take on the Hartford WolfPack at Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport. At the event, there will be an opportunity to participate in a 50/50 raffle which is a great way to win some cash!

Buy your tickets now

We have a section reserved for OHS. All family members are welcome, and each child must attend with a ticketed adult responsible for them. Tickets are $25 and come with a free hat!  A small portion of each ticket sale will go to OHS PTA. Buy your tickets now here: https://fevo-enterprise.com/event/osbornhill.

Attention Incoming Kindergarteners!

The office is compiling an email list of incoming kindergarten students for next fall. If you will have a kindergartener for the next school year, please either:

  • Email TBudlowski@fairfieldschools.org with your future KDG student’s name, date of birth, your address, your best contact phone number, and the preschool they attend
  • Call the school office at 203-255-8340 extension 1 so the registration procedures can be emailed to you in January.
FPS Toy Drive

It's the season for giving! The Maintenance and Custodial Division of Fairfield Public Schools is holding a Toy Drive to support various charities throughout the town and Connecticut.

You can donate the following new, unwrapped toys:

Dolls, Toy Cars/Trucks, Board Games, DVD's (G-PG), Books/Crayons, Diapers & Wipes, Gift Cards

Donations can be placed in the collection box inside the main hallway. The Toy Drive runs through December 18.
