Dear OHS Families,

This week we have many families starting Hannukah on Thursday evening.  Wishing everyone celebrating a Happy Hannukah and a special time with family.

Early Release Day on Tuesday

This Tuesday, 12/5, is an early release day for students at 1:40.  This is a professional development afternoon for staff.

K-2 Science Program

On Wednesday, our K-2 classes will be participating in an assembly from Mad Science called Spin, Pop, Boom!  This presentation is a chemistry focus and brought to us by the PTA. Thanks to Kate Fierman for organizing the event and to the PTA for supporting special programs for our students.

OHS 5th Grade Chorus

Fifth Grade Chorus Performance at Fairfield Inauguration

Last week, our fifth grade chorus opened the Fairfield Inauguration of newly elected officials with a beautiful rendition of “A Little Bit of Love” by Weezer.  We were invited to perform just a few school days in advance of the event, but Mrs. Haskitt and the chorus had this song prepared and took on the challenge.  It was kind of Mrs. Haskitt to accept the offer and wonderful of all the families who brought their fifth graders to the event to make it possible.  The students were really excited to be there and performed beautifully. You can see their performance here.  It is the very first part of the event.

Have a great week,

David

Mad Science assemblies coming to OHS

Mad Science Worldwide is coming to Osborn Hill. On Wednesday, grades K-2 and on December 13th, grades 3-5 will enjoy an interactive and spectacular STEM presentation done by Mad Science Worldwide during the school day.   Click on the link to learn more about the program: https://www.madscience.org/

Variety Show - Song Selection starts in January

Registration for our annual Variety Show is open - but hold your song ideas until the new year!  All you need to sign up is the name of your group or child, and the names and grades of all students in your act (10 max). Email those to ohsvarietyshow2024@gmail.com by January 5th and you're in!

Song submissions will open on January 5th

We make every effort to not use songs more than once during the show. We understand this can feel stressful because it creates a first-come, first-serve situation. Please be flexible if your song has already been chosen by another group.

Swifties - take note!

Please note -It's a Taylor Swift Era!! If your group has their heart set on Taylor Swift, you may want to consider a plan B. When you submit, it would be a good idea to submit a second choice at the same time.

You can get ALL the information you need on the Variety Show, including the full timeline of important dates and deadlines, on our website:
