Dear OHS Families,

On Friday I posted important early dismissal and no school days coming up for the rest of March and April in ParentSquare.  I want to be sure they make it on your calendars so you can plan accordingly.

Staff Surprise Thank You

On Thursday, the PTA surprised staff with a beautiful St. Patrick’s Day themed spread. It was a wonderful pick-me-up during this busy time of year, when demands and stress levels are high.  It was thoughtful of our PTA president Rachel Parrish to organize and of all who donated goodies to make it possible.

Conferences this Week, 3/19 & 3/21
We have early dismissals on Tuesday (3/19) and Thursday (3/21) to allow time for spring conferences. Conferences are a little shorter this time around, with 13 minutes of total time with the teacher. We have to keep the conferences short because there is more limited time in the schedule for conferences in the district schedule this year.  Communication between home and school is vital and these conferences are a great time to share, listen, and ask questions all in the interest of supporting your child(ren).

St Baldrick’s Event Coming Up Friday, 3/22
This Friday, 3/22, from 5:30-8:00 pm, we have the return of our annual Team Teddy St. Baldrick’s Foundation Fundraiser at OHS. This event is held each year in memory of former OHS student, Teddy Gerber, for whom Teddy’s Corner is named in our LLC. You can support by purchasing raffle basket tickets or by supporting one of the shavees shaving their heads on Friday at Team Teddy.

Class Placement Letter Reminder

As a reminder, we are currently accepting letters from families to provide information to our placement teams. Please see the linked letter for more details about the information we will accept. Please know letters containing information we do not accept will be returned. Please send letters in by April 5, 2024 to Terry Budlowski so we can organize the information over the break in preparation for our placement teams.

Have a great week,

David

Variety Show ticket sales begin next week

We are counting down until showtime! The Osborn Hill Variety Show is on Saturday, April 27 at 11:30am. Tickets are $10 each and will go on sale starting next Monday on our website.

Tickets will go on sale in three phases:

  • Monday, March 25 at 12pm - families of performers are able to purchase up to 3 tickets*
  • Wednesday, March 27 at 12pm - non-performers are able to purchase up to 3 tickets
  • Friday, March 29 at 12pm - any remaining tickets go on sale. Tickets can be purchased one at a time.

Important notes about tickets

  • If there is a situation where your child is in the show and three tickets does not cover your immediate family (parents and siblings) please contact the Variety Show committee. This does not include grandparents
  • There is no lap sitting allowed at Black Rock Church. Every single person needs a ticket. If you have an infant, consider wearing them. There is not room for strollers in the theater. As always, feel free to contact the committee with any questions.

Calling all artists! Submit your designs for the Variety Show program cover

Your child is invited to submit cover art for our Variety Show program - all submissions must be handed into the office no later than Monday, March 25. Designs must be black and white - best if you use a black sharpie or black finepoint pen. Draw Ozzy singing, or your peers dancing, or hot dogs onstage (remember that from last year?? What a hoot!). Thank you and good luck to all of our talented artists.

Questions? Contact the Variety Show Committee

Support the Team Teddy St. Baldrick's Fundraiser at OHS this Friday

ONE week to go until Team Teddy OHS! Come join us THIS Friday, March 22, from 5:30-8:00PM at OHS.

This will be our 15th annual fundraiser. There will be raffles (tickets to “Hamilton”, Billy Joel, Red Sox/Yankees; a brand-new bike, and so much more (check your child’s backpack for a pre-order form), a bake sale, Super Duper Weenie, and tons of fun activities run by OHS teachers and paraeducators - all for a great cause.

This year we have already raised over $46,000, bringing our 15-year total to over $1.5 million. The money raised by events like ours goes towards grants that allow scientists to better understand pediatric cancers and how to treat them more effectively, giving children a better chance to recover and live their lives.

Those who want to contribute without going bald can sponsor a shavee, buy treats at the bake sale, or purchase raffle tickets with the chance to win fantastic prizes.

To sign up to be a shavee, make a donation, or check out our local sponsors, visit:  https://www.stbaldricks.org/events/TeamTeddyOHS2024

PTA Meeting next week

We hope you can join us at our PTA meeting next Tuesday night, March 26 at 7pm. We are sponsoring many events between now and the end of the year, and our meetings are a great way to stay informed!

We will be offering babysitting services free-of-charge for all current OHS students. Stay tuned next week for info on how to sign up!

STEAM night for Grades 2-5 next Wednesday

Ms. Greer, our Math Science Teacher, has been busy planning the annual STEAM night for grades 2-5 next Wednesday, March 27 from 6:30-8pm.  This event is an opportunity for students to interact with different STEAM-related activities with a special adult in their life.  There will be different activities, some are walk in and some will require signing up ahead of time.  You can view Ms. Greer's note here, and families in 2nd-5th grades should receive more information this week.
